| The water which supplies the farm rises as crystal clear springs enriched with the minerals that trout relish and is estimated to have been underground for over 400 years. The water passes through organic watercressbeds where it picks up a range of live food including 3 types of freshwater shrimp which thrive naturally in the cress.
The water is rich with food when it reaches the fish and they obtain around 90 percent of their dietary requirements from the water. The remainder of their diet is from organic vegetable pellets. The main difference between organic trout and non organic trout, including Rainbow Trout that are caught in rivers, is that they are normal male and female fish. Rainbow Trout in rivers are neutered and stocked when young having often been given antibiotics as a preventative. The organic mixed sex fish enjoy a more natural life which shows in their quality and taste.
